cross functional collaboration with design research, engineers, production, brand creative and marketing

Headspace Focus Music

One of my favorite projects was developing a suite of bespoke music created exclusively for Headspace designed to support focus. Each 45min-1hr playlist was created by world renowned musicians and artists and follows researched backed focus music guidelines. Working alongside John Legend, who was our Chief Music Officer at the time, we curated a collection of content that generated organic marketing opportunities for the launch of “Focus mode” in the app. The launch also included additional focus content and mindfulness exercises.

Headspace X National Parks Foundation

Nature and mindfulness go hand in hand so creating this collection of audio and visual content experiences with the National Parks Foundation was a dream collaboration. It allowed us to bring the wonder and beauty of the National Parks into the product in a way that meets users where they are. Using live audio recorded in each park and the guidance of Headspace mindfulness teachers, we created meditations, wind downs, sleepcasts and soundscapes set in iconic parks across the United States such as the Grand Canyon, Yosemite, Yellowstone, Joshua Tree and more!

Headspace X Star Wars

The opportunity to collaborate with Disney and create engaging and impactful content with one of the worlds most recognizable and beloved IP’s was a true joy. In collaborating with our brand, partnerships, production and marketing teams we developed short animated breathing exercises featuring classic characters from Disney’s Star Wars franchise and a selection of audio sleepcasts set in beloved locations within the Star Wars universe. Users had the opportunity to take deep breaths with Yoda, R2-D2 and Chewbaca, and fall asleep while flying across the galaxy in the X-wing. This was launched in alingment with Star Wars Day (May the 4th) and World Mental Health Day (May 6th).

Headspace Clinical Programs

As Headspace evolved from a meditation and mindfulness company to one that included mental health care and clinical support the content had to evolve with it. This was a challenge I was excited to tackle. The task was to build content strategy for clinically-validated content experiences that use evidence-based interventions to drive mental health outcomes. These programs are designed to help members address difficult emotions, improve sleep and manage stress using both mindfulness and techniques from cognitive behavioral therapy  (CBT), an evidence-based mental health intervention. Each program has an average of 20 sessions that are mixed media experiences utilizing video, audio and animation to cover a range of topics that foster mindfulness, experimentation, build habits and have been proven to improve health outcomes.
